Big Updates for Uconnect 8.4 in 2016

The Uconnect infotainment system found in Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles will be getting some big updates for the 2016 model year. The 2016 Chrysler 200 and 300, Dodge Challenger, Charger, Durango, and Viper, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, and Ram 1500, Heavy Duty, and Chassis Cab will hit the showroom with the updated Uconnect 8.4 Touchscreen system. Look forward to more advanced features that will make long commutes more bearable. The following updates will be included in the 2016 Uconnect system.

Do Not Disturb
You will now be able to turn on a “Do Not Disturb” function through the Uconnect 8.4 System to automatically re-direct calls to voicemail when you don’t want to be interrupted with phone calls and text messages, especially while you’re driving. You also have the option to use the “Reply with Text Message” to automatically let the sender know that you’re busy.

Siri Eyes Free
Pressing the voice button on the steering wheel will now let drivers use voice commands through their Apple iPhone 4s or newer model. Drivers can send text messages, make phone calls, play music, and set reminders through their iPhone at the push of a button.

Drag and Drop Menu Bar
You can now personalize the 8.4-inch touchscreen controls by dragging and dropping applications in the menu bar for one-button access to your most used features. This will limit the need to go searching through menu upon menu for that one application you need.

SiriusXM Tune Start
This new feature will play music on SiriusXM Radio from the beginning rather than the middle of a song when users switch between their favorite stations. You can now catch every beat of every song you listen to on SiriusXM.

Vehicle User Guide
Now you can view the owner’s manual through the Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen. This new feature will debut on 2016 Dodge Charger and Challenger, and 2016 Chrysler 300 models first, but expect to see more models with the vehicle user guide to come.

These improved features of the 2016 Uconnect 8.4 touchscreen are designed to make the system more user-friendly, including better voice recognition and smoother performance.
