Jeeps aren’t made to sit in your driveway. Whether you purchase the new 2016 Jeep Renegade or the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we expect you’ll take it on at least a few adventures. At Lampe Dodge, we encourage you to get your tires dirty every once in a while, which is why we’ve come up with a list of our favorite off-roading trails. Don’t forget to buckle up!

1. Davis Flat Trail
Davis Flat is a beautiful 16-mile trail that starts off near Pine Flat Reservoir and winds through the Sequoia National Forest. You and your Jeep will find yourselves along a dirt road that follows the Kings River. Throughout the river are campsites in which whitewater rafting, kayaking, and fishing are available if you want some entertainment other than off-roading. The trail is wide enough for vehicles to caravan and pass each but be prepared for rocks, grades, and water crossings. This trail is located just outside of Visalia and is only accessible from April to December.

2. Cherry Flat Trail
Also located outside of Visalia is Cherry Flat Trail which starts off south from CR 465 and stretches 9.9 miles. The beginning of this road starts off as a manageable trail but becomes more rugged as you venture past the private properties. Throughout the trail are stunning views of the Kings Canyon National Park, Kaweah River Valley, and a lake in Pierce Valley. Mud, sand, and loose ground are expected but if you travel while the weather is clear, your Jeep should make it through just fine!

3. Deer Creek Drive
Deer Creek Drive is a pastoral trail near Porterville that is known for its rustic scenery of oak trees and grasslands. Don’t be surprised if your Jeep comes face to face with a herd of cattle while journeying through this winding 18.2-mile path. Deer Creek Drive is an easier trail to tackle so be sure to bring the family and your camera!

4. Windy Gap Trail
If you’re tired of Western Divide Highway and want to take a more exciting route, consider following Windy Gap Trail. This lightly travelled path weaves through Camp Nelson and connects to southern trails surrounding California Hot Springs. Located near Porterville, Windy Gap Trail makes its way around the Sequoia National Forest and peeks into the Tule River Indian Reservation. Although the skill level is considered easy, you’ll want to make sure your Jeep is fully prepared for this 13.5-mile ride.
